On a waterfront site surrounded by tidal wetlands, the clients owned a distinctive older residence that looked to be inspired by Middle Earth. In need of additional guest space and garage area it was decided to construct a detached structure that would fulfill the project needs while being fluent in the particular language of the existing residence. The simple guesthouse over garage concept is not unique but interpretation of that common program stretches that definition to be a marriage of structures that appear to be partners in time.
