This income qualified; affordable housing neighborhood is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood in West Seattle. The community consists of 21 affordable housing units for families which include seven units for families that are transitioning from homelessness. The project is modeled as one of the first co-housing projects in Seattle. There is a large central courtyard and a community building that housing laundry, community gathering space and counseling offices. The project was developed in a way to retain a large percentage of the native vegetation on the site. The final project landscaping was provided by native plantings that were removed from the site before clearing, maintained off-site for the duration of the construction and replanted once the site was prepared. Additionally, the development of this site provided for the acquisition of natural open space land immediately adjacent to be used by the community at large.
